Fingal Head & Lighthouse
The historic white painted sandstone lighthouse at Fingal Head was
built in 1878 at one of the most easterly points in Australia. The
windswept point is a great spot for sightseeing; you can see dolphins
frolicking in the surf on almost any given day. During winter you
may even spot humpback whales on their annual migration northbound
to Hervey Bay. An unusual rocky outcrop called Cook Island can be
seen offshore with its breeding habitat for wedge-tailed shearwaters
and the crested tern.
